Helen Johnson

Helen trained at Trinity College of Music and continues to study with Hazel Wood. At Trinity Helen sang the roles of Arnalta ( L’Incoronazione di Poppea ), La Baronessa (Il Cappello Di Paglia Di Firenze) and Assunta (The Saint of Bleecker Street). With British Youth Opera she sang Dame Carruthers (The Yeomen of the Guard) and Juno (Orpheus in the Underworld). Since Trinity Helen has sung the roles of Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia) for Opera East, Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin) for Southgate Opera, Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro) with Southbank Sinfonia, chorus for WNO’s productions of Turandot and Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci, Flora (La Traviata) with Opera Box, Jezibaba (Rusalka) for Iford Opera and Mrs Goodbody/Ruth (The Parson’s Pirates) for Opera Della Luna.

This year she sang the role of Kolusina, covered Grandmother Buryja and sang chorus for ETO’s production of Jenufa, covered the role of Hatred for Buxton Festival Opera’s production of Armide and is currently singing in the ENO chorus in their Autumn production of Jenufa.
