Andrew was born in Manchester and educated at Magdalen College, Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music.
Last year Andrew made his debut for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden singing Starveling (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) conducted by Richard Hickox. Other rôles in opera include Silvio (I pagliacci) for Castleward Opera, The Vicar (Albert Herring), Masetto (Don Giovanni)and Ford (Falstaff) for English Touring Opera, Don Giovanni for Mid Wales Opera, Onegin, Rigoletto, the Count (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Renato (Un ballo in maschera) at Holland Park. Recently Andrew covered Amonasro (Aida) for Scottish Opera.
International work includes Escamillo (Carmen) and Germont (La Traviata) for the Arts Council of Penang, Malaysia. In 2002 at the Osterfestpiele in Salzburg Andrew was the baritone soloist in two performances at the Grossesfestspielhaus of Beethoven’s Choral Fantasia with Maurizio Pollini and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. In 2004 Andrew Sharpless in Compagnia d’Opera Italiana di Milano’s production of Madama Butterfly touring in Europe
Plans for 2006 include a series of recitals in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo, the title role in Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro Comunale, Monteleone di Spoleto conducted by Nicoletta Conti and the Music Master in a concert performance of Ariadne auf Naxos at the 2006 Windsor Festival.
