RETURN TO OPERA DELLA LUNA

– one of California’s most notorious biker gangs. Mad, bad, and dangerous to know; yet they have brought up and cared for the abandoned baby girl who was left at their camp one night. But who is this mysterious young woman who has lived with them for the last eighteen years and grown up in a dangerous man’s world? And why is the glamorous socialite Marsha Berkenfield so interested in her?
Opera della Luna’s new version of Donizetti’s opera comique tells the old story in a new setting. Don’t expect comic opera soldiers in this fast and furious adaptation.

Sponsored by Harvey Daleyson.

Our cast includes Sydney Opera House’s “Queen of the Night”, Suzanne Shakespeare as Marie, the Daughter of The Regiment. Tonio, the tenor with the 9 top C’s, will be sung by Jesus Alvarez from Spain, with many performances in Barcelona and at the SemperOper Dresden to his credit. Adrian Clarke, a regular at the Royal Opera House (most recently as Dancairo in Carmen), plays Sulpice, the Captain of The Regiment.

Stowe House is one of Britain’s finest eighteenth century houses. It is an architectural masterpiece on an immense and palatial scale which has inspired, and contains the work of, a number of leading eighteenth-century designers - notably Sir John Vanbrugh, Robert Adam, James Gibbs, William Kent and Sir John Soane. It sits in magnificent parkland now owned by the National Trust. With over 40 historic temples and monuments, each with their own story, its gardens incorporate history, nature and beauty in majestic surroundings.

The performance takes place in the Roxburgh Theatre which has recently been recently been restored and renovated to the highest specifications as a top class indoor performance space.

The beautiful nearby grounds will be open for picnics 2 and a half hours before the performance.
