Opera della Luna’s 30th Anniversary revival of the company’s legendary production of The Mikado has just finished. Our performances in Salford (Lowry), Bath (Theatre Royal), London (Wilton’s) and Salisbury (Playhouse) were rapturously received by full houses and cheering audiences.
Clarke’s brilliance in this and other similar shows reveals an anomalous ability to maintain a broad reverence for the material while at the same time revelling in its avant la lettre surrealism and meta-theatrical moment. The novel setting the world of high fashion worked a treat.

Two interesting projects for us this autumn – neither in theatres, but on-site performances and special events have, through no fault of ours, both been postponed. We are therefore planning some less high-profile evenings in our own neck of the woods (Oxfordshire); preparing for our annual Christmas festivities (Christmas Nuts) at Stowe; and more importantly starting work on an exciting new production for 2026. We hope to announce this shortly – so watch this space!
